Pilot Flying from Portland to Orange County Charged with Flying DRUNK!
If you flew to the O.C. in 2014, there's a chance you could have been flying with e DRUNK PILOT!! A former Alaska Airlines pilot has been charged with drunk flying! The official charge is "piloting a plane with passengers while under the influence of alcohol," according to the U.S. Attorney's office in Los Angeles. The pilot, David Hans Arntson of Newport Beach, California, was arrested Wednesday and arraigned on the felony charge in federal court in LA.
The complaint came after he was randomly selected to a sobriety test after flying from PDX to John Wayne Airport in Orange County on June 20, 2014. Apparently, they took two tests and his blood alcohol level was 0.134 in one and .0142 in the other! The legal limit to fly a passenger plane is 0.04! DANG!
Neither he nor his attorney have made a public statement yet, but what can he really say? "Hey, I just needed a drink.... or 8! If they convict him, he could face up to 15 years in prison. I think given what disasters could have occurred, 15 years is pretty spot on!
