A Pilot Rock, OR man has been cited by the Washington State Patrol for following too closely, and triggering a chain-reaction crash that injured another motorist.

Last Friday, Elmer P. Jeffers was driving his van on Highway 395 near the 4th. Ave. overpass in Kennewick.  He was following four other northbound vehicles.

The other cars slowed down for traffic, but Jeffers didn't, plowing into the back of another vehicle. That Toyota RAV4 then hit a Honda, which then was pushed into two other cars.

One of the other passengers in the Honda, 48-year-old Carlos Ambriz of Ontario, CA was injured and taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center. The extent of his injuries was not released.

Jeffers was cited for the accident.
