To replace injured Cliff Avril, the Seahawks have brought in veteran defensive lineman Dwight Freeney for a one year contract. There are a lot of reasons to be excited about this addition even though he hasn't played on a team this year.

    One of the Best..All Time

Dwight Freeney has been creating havoc for offenses since he was drafted in the first round back in 2002. He is a 7x Pro Bowl and 3x First Team All Pro with 122.5 sacks and 329 tackles. He is second all-time in sacks with active players and 18th total.

    Won't Be Sacking Wilson Anymore

Freeney has played against the Seahawks with multiple teams, and has tackled our QB multiple times. I for one are glad he won't be sacking him anymore!

His Experience Makes Young Guys Better

Dwight Freeney has been one of the best DE since entering the league in 2002. He even mastered the spin move that a lot of players use today. His experience is going to spread to young players like Clark, Richardson, & Nazair Jones.

    Iron Sharpens Iron

Freeney has already said he has wanted to play for the Seahawks since 2011 and now he has his chance. Having only 3 sacks last year but one in the Super Bowl and 8 the year before, he is looking to make an impact. Just like Sheldon Richardson, Freeney will only get better playing with this group of guys if used correctly. Used 30-40 downs a game Freeney can still be a force to be reckoned with.

Freeney Wants Another Super Bowl Ring

This has to be the main reason Freeney came to Seattle...he wants another ring. He lost the last Super Bowl played to the Patriots and only won with the Colts in Super Bowl XLI. He has a ton left in the tank and his body is right. Expect a big impact from Freeney once he gets comfortable.
