Alicia Keys Releases Uplifting Song ‘Power’
The bass line sounds similar to Curtis Mayfield's 'Pusherman.' There's no references to drug dealers here though; the song follows in line with Keys' string of newly released uplifting jams.
'Power' is an unreleased song Keys wrote back in her 2007 'As I Am' era and blends with the MLK's idea of self-empowerment. "Grandma, used to say nothing before it was time / Used to say that the world would be mine / So I should just have faith," Keys sings. Her voice is just as empowering as the lyrics as she belts through the marching drums and that bass line.
"This is one of my favorite unreleased songs," Keys says in the description accompanying the song. "I was looking for my power. This song says it all. All of these pics inspire me! They represent the power of being yourself and finding yourself! Shine on!"
Fans are waiting for Keys' next move after she parted ways from her role as Blackberry's creative director this month.
