Benton County deputies found 1,000 marijuana plans in southern Benton County. The owner of the land had NO IDEA! Here's why:

  • The plants were in a gully. That means they were impossible to see from the ground. Deputies spotted them from a helicopter.
  • They were planted along a stream that flows year round so no one had to water it. I don't know if it's a natural  stream or irrigation runoff. The "weed" looks like the green weeds that grow along a stream.
  • Because they were planted along a stream and didn't need maintenance, the farmer has no idea who did it and the police can't monitor it to find the criminals. They may be farm workers, they may be neighbors, they may be random tresspasses.

The lesson learned is know your property if you have a lot of it. Monitor places with good water supply that can't be seen from busy roads.
