Newberg, Oregon, is reeling from recent revelations the city manager put the chief of police on administrative leave because an officer she had a crush on didn't like him.

Newberg is a rural community just outside of Portland with about 25,000 people. The city manager allegedly invited an officer over to her house after work to enjoy a bottle of Pátron. They got a little frisky, it's not clear much more happened, but the next thing you know the police chief is on administrative leave for no stated reason.

Officers then submitted anonymous letters saying their coworker bragged about a social encounter with the city manager, and that he was disgruntled with the chief, and they believe the situations are related.

The city council reinstated the chief, could not find any criminal charges to file against their city manager, but did place her on leave. The investigation is ongoing.
