I saw something today that blew my mind. Aquatic rhinos used to live in the Umatilla County area when the region was a swamp.

30 million years ago northeast Oregon was a marshy swamp inhabited by crazy creatures that don't exist anymore (including saber-tooth tigers). The East Oregonian had a story about the Pendleton fisherman who discovered the rhino bone almost 70 years ago along with several other fossils of crazy animals like weird deer on the banks of the McKay Reservoir. It was a big find for the University of Oregon paleontologists. They also found a prehistoric horse and a saber-tooth cat.

I've heard of this same post-dinosaur, pre-human era seeing many, many crazy animals such as giant penguins, a giant ape (not as big as King Kong, but big), giant hamster and giant snake!
