A 60-year-old man was at an Ephrata tavern watching a performance with his wife when a fight broke out in the parking lot. He tried to intervene and found himself in a legal mess.

According to witnesses, a woman was punching a man in the face, so the 60 year old intervened. The woman then punched him in the face several times. When she failed to stop, he hit her in the face to make her stop.

Then a second woman jumped on his back. He flipped her off his back. Then a man tried to steal his keys and ended up puncturing his tire with a knife.

Roughly 8 people corroborated the story, but an equal number of people say the women were socializing outside the tavern when the 60 year old punched one in the face for no reason and then threw the second to the ground after she tried to help the first.

Ephrata prosecutors have thrown their hands up with the case pursuing no charges.
