Today was the grand opening of the huge new expansion to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter called 'Diagon Alley'. It is a full scale replication of the actual Diagon Alley where Harry first buys his wand and gets his owl. It is getting rave reviews even though the whole expansion only includes one ride.

When my wife and I visited the original Hogsmeade we joked about them building on an expansion behind the Hogwarts castle. Little did we know they were already planning it and had even started some construction.

Now Diagon Alley is open and the world of Harry Potter is now much more alive and vibrant. In Diagon Alley you can explore all the shops, buy anything you would need for wizard school, or even eat at Potter themed restaurants. The video above is a collection of almost everything you can see in the new expansion and is the closest thing I could find to walking around.

Universal has gone to great lengths to complete the illusion of magic and make you feel like you are there. That is one of the main reasons why I think people love being there, the illusion that everything is real. It feels like you jumped into that world and can do magic yourself. That is why I think people still love it even though there is only really two main rides in both Potter parks.

Every detail is included, if you have seen all the movies and read all the books, you will see so many hidden things all over the park. Even the train ride between the two Potter sections of the park is a complete experience in itself. When you get off the train, the recreated the famous London train station and even a part of downtown London to scale.

You have to see this for yourself If you are a big fan of Harry Potter, take it from someone who has been there. It is an overwhelming experience and way worth the lines and the cost. One thing you have to try is Butter Beer, any version will amaze you. They even have Butter Beer ice cream now, but if my wife knew that we would be on a plane tonight, no kidding.
