You probably know that there's Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, but did you know about Giving Tuesday? Today is dedicated not to shopping, but to giving to charitable causes. It's the perfect day to pick a charity or non-profit that helps in our community, country, and/or the world. If you're not sure who to give to, my pick this year is Girls on the Run. I recently learned more about GOTR and decided to get involved. The mission is to "inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. And they envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams."

People automatically just think GOTR is just about girls running (which is of course a big part of it), but girls also learn social skills like how to be confident, withstand peer pressure, how to handle bullying, and so much more. Our local Girls on the Run team is raising money for their scholarship fund. If they reach their $1000 today, the total will be doubled by a generous GOTR donor! Any amount helps! $25 will provide a healthy snack at every practice for one girl, $75 will provide program t-shirts for one team, and $150 will provide a full scholarship for one girl! I think programs like these are an awesome way to prepare the girls in our community to be powerful leaders now and as they grow in to women. So I'm giving to GOTR this year. Of course, any cause you're passionate about will be great to give to, but in case you didn't have a group in mind, consider Girls in the Run!
