Let Me Tell You About the Time I Saw a UFO at the Drive-In

It was 1993, the summer before my senior year of high school. I took my girlfriend to see "Jurassic Park" at the drive-in theater in Spokane right off the freeway. The theater faces northwest toward the mountains. It was a clear night with few clouds. We were in the back of a Datsun 310 hatchback with the back up. I had a clear view of the sky -- no glass, no wires, no trees, no buildings -- just a clear, blue sky above me except for a thunder storm approaching from the north.

The opening credits started rolling and I was concerned about the storm approaching. It's a drive-in movie and I'm watching the storm because I didn't want it to ruin the movie.

When I looked up at the clouds an orange orb came out of the clouds kind of at an angle.

The first thing that comes to my mind is "What the f*** is that?"

It traveled at an angle with incredible, yet constant, speed and then stopped on a dime. That all happened in maybe a quarter second -- super fast.

When it stopped I squinted at it. I thought, "What the f*** is that?" Right about the time I said "that" in my brain it shot off to the horizon towards the sunset.

It literally moved so fast I could barely trace the direction that it went. If I hadn't been facing the right direction I might not have known which way it went. But it did go slow enough I could trace it with my eyes.

When it shot off I sat there two minutes dumbfounded, in shock. I couldn't believe what I saw.

I spent the next 2-3 minutes trying to debunk it. What did I see? Was it a reflection on glass? Was there something swinging from a tree? There was nothing. Just plain sky and the object.

To this day I can't tell you if it was an alien or not, but I've never seen, heard or had anybody describe something that exists that is what I saw that evening. Period.

I did research a couple years later thinking someone else must have seen something. From what I could tell online, nobody reported anything.

The moral of the story: That happened in a city with over 200,000 people and I'm the only one to see it and talk about it online. That could be happening every day in cities all over America and 99 percent of people will not see it because they're not looking. So how can you be so sure UFOs don't exist?

• It was hard to judge how far away it was. It was obviously between the drive-in theater and the mountains, but other than a rough guess of 3-5 miles, I can't say.
