A cattle feedlot based out of Wallula has been fined by the Department of Ecology because of "poop dust". They are fining them $50,000 for allowing the dust to be spread in the air which can cause adverse health problems to people that are exposed. Reports say the feed company was sent a formal notice about the air pollution in the feed preparation area, cattle pens and roadways in July and have made improvements.

The company says "“We have continued to make improvements to reduce dust in the feed prep area,”and “In fact, we have invested about $1 million over the last year to improve operations and reduce fugitive emissions from (that) area.” Obviously it was not enough because they found over 50 days between April and September where the company was found to have access dust in the air and surrounding area.
