Move Over Hitchcock, Richland Birds Are On a Rampage!

THE BIRDS! If you've seen the Hitchcock classic, you know that birds randomly decide to attack humans at will. Not, that's not exactly happening at the Richland Landfill, but it's getting pretty bad. The landfill has been having problems with the bird population growing and becoming more aggressive. The workers are irritated with the copious amount of birds because they are annoying and get in the way. But also, birds carry disease. Plus with an all-you-can-eat buffet of garbage, the risk factor gets higher for spread of illness.

So the city is planning to possibly authorize the use of firearms to control, or at least deter the birds. No, they won't be shooting the birds to kill, just to make noise to scare the birds away. Will this work? Maybe, but something has to be done, so it's a good start. Hopefully, they'll be able to scare the birds away before they start to organize...
