About 460 million years ago a rock (meteorite) landed on the Earth in what is now Northeastern Oregon.

In 1999, a couple from Washington found it in Morrow County, just laying there in a ditch! Common meteorites can sell for up to a few bucks a gram and this sucker weighs in at 18,200 grams! That makes it the second largest meteorite ever found in Oregon, while the largest is about the size of a VW bug.

How can you tell a rock from a meteorite? Some have a melted surface that created flow lines as it sped through the sky, like this one. See a pic of the rock and more on the story HERE.
