I have always loved the show the Deadliest Catch, and even met one of the captains Keith Colburn at a Seattle Seahawks game once. When I heard there was a new crabbing show based out of Oregon, I had to check it out. The new show is called The Deadliest Catch: Dungeon Cove and follows four families based out of Newport, Oregon trying to make it rich by catching dungeness crab. My family always vacationed on the Oregon coast and I have gone to the actual docks they feature in the show many times to buy crab. My grandmother grew up in the area and knew the best places to buy fresh crab and usually it meant a trip to the docks. To this day I am not sure if that is  "normal" thing to do, but she walked down there like she owned the place and worked a deal with a captain for fresh crab.

I had never put much thought into how dangerous it is to catch my favorite food growing up and if you liked the original show, you will like Dungeon Cove. You can actually watch the first two episodes on their official website here. The Deadliest Catch: Dungeon Cove is on the Discovery channel Tuesdays at 9/8 pm central.
