Gather ye friends, and hear the tale. The nectar of honey can now be enjoyed by the fine citizens of Washington state! Okay, you're probably wondering what the heck I'm talking about. Mead, a wine-type beverage made by fermenting of honey (among other ingredients) can now be sold in growlers by places that already sell beer and ciders.

A new bill was signed in to law by Gov. Inslee that allows for the creation and selling of mead! Previously, mead was undefined on its own and was considered under the same regulations as wine, which carries a LOT of fees to be paid to the Washington State Wine Commission. If you've never enjoyed mead before, think of it as REALLY sweet wine, which is either a good or bad thing depending on how you feel about wine. It's also a beverage that was enjoyed in pretty much every ancient culture from China to Britain (and it's in every fantasy novel ever!)

No word on where (and if) it will be sold in places like The Growler Guys, or D's Wicked Cider, but we'll keep you posted if we hear anything! Huzzah!
