See the Surprising Reason Hermiston Has a Stray Cat Problem
Cat lovers don't always want to spay or neuter their animal, and they certainly oppose euthanizing the felines, but if cat owners are not responsible huge problems result!
Besides killing song birds and endangered butterflies, stray cats cause a lot of problems. They poop in the park, they catch rodents with diseases in the wilderness and bring them into town. They sneak into garages, basements, empty houses and abandoned buildings and pee all over.
But the worst thing they do is procreate. A female cat can have up to three litters a year. That means one male cat and one female could potentially have 400,000 offspring within 7 years!!!
Hermiston's animal shelters and non-profits are going nuts catching cats to spay or neuter them. But no matter how many groups get involved the number of cats is staggering! They say it's literally hundreds. 117 cats were found at one location!
