Forest fires from Russia are reportedly so big, the smoke has now reached the east coast of the United States. The fires took a total of six days to reach the coast, and for me it is a reminder of just how small of a world we live in. Nuclear disasters, volcano, pollution, and other large scale events affect us all and this is a prime example.

The cool part is that with satellite data they can separate the reflections of smoke partials from the ones created by snow, ice, or clouds. That is how they are sure the smoke actually reached the US shore.
