Spout Springs Ski Area east of Pendleton and north of La Grande is for sale for $1.25 million. The owner has a marina in Portland during the summer, and his children are dedicating himself to that so when he retires no one wants to run the ski resort. He says the business is perfect for a local farmer. Bluewood near Dayton is owned by a local farmer.

The resort enjoys 800 vertical feet of skiing and was the training ground for Olympic ski teams during the 1950s and 1960s.

It has 1,400 acres of terrain and has a lease from the Umatilla National Forest. It has two double chairlifts, a lodge and a restaurant.

Don't worry about the drought, the owner says to potential buyers, climate swings are just part of the business -- like boat docking and farming.
