As expected, the Weeknd’s third effort, Beauty Behind the Madness, premiered atop the Billboard 200 chart this week and earning the second-highest debut of 2015.

The collection moved a whopping 412,000 copies in its first week of release. Of that total, 326,000 of it was pure CD sales, which is quite impressive. The 25-year-old crooner follows behind fellow Canadian superstar Drake whose latest mixtape/album, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, pushed 535,000 copies in its debut week back in February. Of that sum, 495,000 of it was album sales.

On Sunday (Sept. 6), the Weekend went on Twitter to thanked his fans for supporting his release. He tweeted:

The Weeknd is currently on the road promoting BBTM. Tonight, he will headline Day 2 of the 2015 Made in America festival in Philadelphia. In addition, the "Earned It" singer has lined up dates for his North America tour in the fall.

We must also mentioned that his Kanye West-produced song "Tell a Friend" is gaining traction on both radio and the Billboard Hot 100 Songs chart. Now that Drake dropped his own remix to the piano-driven ballad, the song is destined to be a fan favorite.

Congratulations to the Weeknd on his recent Billboard chart success.
