Yes, the Tri-Cities does have its own Shakespeare company! The Rude Mechanicals have produced several incredible shows including Comedy of Errors, Othello, and this January, Julius Caesar. The last show of this season, A Midsummer Night's Dream (the cast has a name you may recognize) is currently in rehearsals and will open June 8th. At a birthday party for Shakespeare at Paper Street Brewing this past Saturday, The Rude Mechanicals announced their upcoming season.

The next season will include Macbeth, The Merry Wives of Windsor, and The Tempest. Known for their creative interpretations of Shakespeare's works, (for example, Julius Caesar was a woman) the next season will bring Macbeth set in Scotland with a full Scottish motif, The Merry Wives of Windsor will be set in a 50s sitcom style era, and the Tempest will have a Cirque du Soleil-style atmosphere with drumming and possibly acrobatic elements as well!

New for the next season, there will be company auditions where actors will try-out for all three plays of the at once! That's right, just like companies in larger cities. The auditions are May 21-22 at the Tri-Cities Academy of Ballet. Everyone (experienced or not) is welcome! So, if you've gotten bitten by the acting bug, get two contrasting Shakespearean monologues together and get ready to show off your acting chops!

Below you can check out the season announcement video with more details on each of the shows. Look out Tri-Cities, more "Kick-ass Shakespeare" is coming our way! Huzzah!
