Tri-Cities’ Theater Scene Is Taking a Creepy Turn!
The days of saying "there's nothing to do in the Tri-Cites" are long gone! We've got restaurants, bars, outdoor activities, wineries, concerts, and a thriving theater scene. Two Tri-Cities theater companies are celebrating the season with creepy fun. MCMT (MId Columbia Musical Theater) is presenting 'Addams Family: the Musical,' and The Rude Mechanicals theater company is presenting 'Macbeth'!
'Addams Family' is based on the beloved characters created by Charles Addams, The Addams Family features an original story, and it’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parents. The show opens tonight (October 13th) and runs through Oct. 22nd. Get tickets for Addams Family here!
The Rude Mechanicals present the Shakespeare classic: Macbeth. On a barren heath, three sisters tell the great and bloodied Macbeth that he is fated to be King of Scotland. And so begins a terrifying series of events that lead to the murder of Kings, friends, mothers and their children. Macbeth and his Lady fall prey to a soul-corroding guilt as they desperately try and cling to the defiled crown.
This rendition of Macbeth has the characters in a traditional setting with kilts, crowns, and sword fighting!The show opens Oct. 16th and runs two weekends at the Uptown Theater and a special performance in Walla Walla on Nov. 11th. They are also having a "Shakes-beer" event at Brews Taphouse where you can meet some of the cast members and find out more about the company.
