The Western Hockey League announced that one of its hockey clubs has been infected with several cases of the mumps. Though they didn't say which team was infected, they issued a league-wide warning about the outbreak.

All WHL Clubs were immediately advised by the WHL Office to take all necessary precautions, including sanitization of all locker room areas and equipment. All WHL Clubs were also asked to review vaccination histories of players and team staff and strongly recommend vaccination if necessary.

Meet-n-greet activities have been suspended until the outbreak is under control. Anyone showing signs of the mumps (swollen salivary glands and flu-like symptoms such as fever, body aches and headaches) is urged to contact their doctor. Mumps is usually controlled by vaccinations, but even some of those who have been vaccinated may contract the disease.
