David Kadow is in court facing charges of animal cruelty after his dog's horrific death.

He had his first court date Thursday, after witnesses saw his dog being dragged behind his truck as he drove to his house. The witnesses followed him, honking their horns to alert him, but he didn't stop.

The dog died during the drive, and police reports say Kadow brought it into his living room when he got home.

Kodak's wife says he loved their dog and had never showed any aggression towards it. They got the pit bull as a pup and treated it like a baby -- she insists it was a horrible accident and giant misunderstanding.
