WARNING! New ‘Internal’ Gas Pump Skimmers Found in Tri-Cities

Kennewick police have issued a warning about a new kind of "internal" gas skimmerthat has been found in Tricities.

Old skimmers were external and easy to spot, but these new kinds are completely internal and impossible to spot.

These new skimmers can also grab the pin number associated with the card allowing greater access to the stolen account. So how do you keep yourself safe?

Police say the best way to avoid getting scammed by these new skimmers is to not use your pin number at gas tanks anymore. Use your card as a credit card with your ZIP code instead to keep your pin safe. Even with taking that step, scammers can still get your credit card number with an internal skimmer.

This case is still under investigation by police.
