Bateman Island has been a Tri-Cities favorite for years! Fishing, walking, bird watching, and other activities have enriched Tri-Cities life, but changes may be coming. There is talk (again) of removing the causeway that allows walking access to Bateman Island. Ecologists say that removing the causeway would help restore natural salmon and steelhead fish populations, and become a more reliable source of water. If removed, the only access to Bateman Island would be by boat, which would take a way the ease of access for Tri-Cities residents.

No decisions will be made until 2017, but what do you think? Should we remove the cause way and open up the island for more water flow to restore fish populations, or would this be a loss for the generations of Tri-Cities residents who will miss out on the great activities on Bateman Island?
