Today is the 37th Anniversary of the eruption of Mt. Saint Helen's.

I remember being in the back of my Dad's yellow Chevy pickup, on our way to a fishing trip when the mountain blew.

The skies got dark quick and we cancelled the fishing trip because back then you didn't know what was going to happen.

I remember collecting ash from the fallout but from my small town of Lewiston/Clarkston, we didn't get nowhere as much of ash as Yakima and the Tri-Cities got.

Kids today get to see the Hawaiian Volcano but Mt. Saint Helen's was right here in our backyard and you experienced first hand in 1980.
