A grain silo near Wilson Creek has been on fire since last Saturday and will be burning a while. Most people don't think that grain silo's or storage elevators are very dangerous but they are. They can be a huge bomb if steps are not taken to eliminate moisture and dust from the containers. Dust can ignite with just a small spark like from a light switch or electrical motor which triggers the larger secondary explosion. When they explode it can be more powerful then multiple sticks of dynamite.

There have been over 600 explosions in grain elevators over the last forty years. Reports say they have killed over 250 people but injured over 1,000. There were no injuries in the Wilson Creek fire but officials expect it to keep burning "awhile longer".
