Ludmila Sokolovich moved to Pasco, Washington, from Moldova over a dozen years ago at the age of 5. Scared out of her mind on her first day of school and not understanding what anyone was saying she begged her father to stay, and he did.

Ludmila's father stayed outside on a bench the first couple days of school and sat on a bench where his daughter could see him all day while she attended class to learn English.

She quickly learned English and taught the rest of her family, learning that teaching was her passion in life. Ludmila graduated from Pasco High last month AND from Columbia Basin College with an AA in the Running Start Program.

She will move forward to become a teacher, knowing it was all thanks to her father who waited for her outside of class.
