A group of home health nurses were awarded 2.8 million by the Yakima County Superior Court after regularly being forced to work extra hours without pay.

The judge awarded $1.4 million in back pay and 1.4 million in damages to 28 different nurses that filed the lawsuit against the Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center, according to news reports.

The lawsuit was originally filed by the Washington State Nurses Association because the nurses were only paid for 8 hours a day, but forced to work more with no pay.
