Woo hoo! We're finally getting that hot weather we've been waiting for! Boating, BBQs, hiking, camping, and all sorts of water sports. The weather is PERFECT for getting outside, but if you're getting the in the water, there are a few things to remember. Just because it's finally warm enough to swim, doesn't mean you can't still get cold! Due to amount of snow and rain this year, the water is actually a bit colder than usual at this time of year.

The rivers are higher, and that cold cold water hasn't had time to warm up yet. You can actually still be victim to hypothermia if you're in the water too deep or too long.  And fast-moving rivers can sweep you away faster than you may think. So, if you're dying to hop in the water, do so, but be safe. Only stay in water 4-5 feet deep, and in fast moving (or deeper/colder) areas make sure you are you an experienced boater/swimmer and you have a life vest on at all times. Have fun, be safe, and summer, here we come!
