Tuesday, May 5th, Sgt. Greg Moore was shot in the line of duty, then later died of his injuries. Moore was investigating a string of car burglaries when he came across Jonathan Renfro. Moore stopped Renfro, who at some point allegedly stole the officer's vehicle, which lead to a pursuit. Details about the stop and how the shooting occurred are still being investigated at this time, so the full sequence of events is not yet available.

"Words cannot adequately express the level of mourning we feel for Sergeant Moore's family," wrote the Coeur d'Alene Police Dept.

Renfro was initially charged with attempted murder, theft of a police vehicle, theft of an officer’s gun and being a felon with a gun. The attempted murder charge will most likely be changed to murder now. His bail was set at $2 million.

Moore is survived by his wife, Lindy and their two children. If you would like to help Sgt. Moore's family with expenses, you can donate to the Go Fund me by clicking here. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
