West Nile Virus Found in Grant County!!
West Nile virus used to be found only in parts of North Africa, the Middle East and South Asia, but in 1999 that creepy virus first reared its ugly head in the US. While cases since then have been few and far between, it's still a virus that can cause major damage. A mosquito caught in Grant County was found to have the virus. Luckily there haven't been any cases in animals or humans yet, but we should still be cautious.
Wear mosquito repellent, long sleeves and pants if you're out at dusk or in areas prone to mosquitoes (especially still water). Make sure children and the elderly are well covered too, as they are more susceptible. The virus shows little to no symptoms but can cause neurological damage and in come cases death. Be careful out there!
